After a long week of cricket the two CJCA Boys teams have both come away with Trophies from the 57th South Island Primary Tournament hosted by the Buller Cricket Association in Westport.

The CJCA Red team dominated Nelson the final for the Sir Jack Newman Trophy.  Nelson were tied down by tight bowling and eventually cracked being dismissed in the 24th over for 83.  CJCA Red then set about the chase with a positive attitude eventually knocking off the runs in just the 13th over without loss.

The CJCA Black team was in the Derek Cockburn Trophy section after 2 losses in the 20/20 phase including a heavy loss at the hands of Canterbury Country.  They had a chance for redemption in the final when they gain faced Country.  Country batted first and racked up a impressive 210 for 6 in their 40 overs.  CJCA Black put their heads down and keep close to the required run rate all the way along and eventually hit the winning runs with 9 balls and 2 wickets in hand.

The CJCA thanks all the boys and supporters for their fantastic efforts over the week.  We wish all the boys the best as their move into their respective Secondary Schools and enter the world of Youth Cricket.
