Winter Training Information
The 2019 Winter Training Programme is now open to all Boys (Year 6,7 and 8). Registrations opened recently for those enroled in the 2019 Summer Tournament but now remaining spots can be obtained by registering using the form below.opens in June each year on a ‘first in’ basis.
REMAINING SPACES ARE DETAILED BELOW – as at 27 June there are 10 spots in Year 6 and 13 spots in year 8 – if you are Year 7 and wish to be considered should we increase Squad sizes please email the CJCA at gm@cjca.org.nz.
It is envisaged that the Girls programme will once again take place in the School holidays in October
Various times are offered and each squad is made up of 12 players so that we are able to get a good ratio of coaches to players in each group. With a shortage of training venues in Christchurch, training sessions are run in New Zealand High-Performance Centre in Lincoln and at the St Andrews College Nets within the grounds of the College. Generally, they are run on Saturday afternoon and Sundays so as not to interfere with winter codes.
All Years Spaces still left as at 27 June
The overall objective is to provide players with a ‘pre-season’ training opportunity to work on their batting, bowling, fielding and wicket-keeping skills. Players are provided with feedback through each session and a final report at the end of the program giving them some thing to work on as well as a document to pass onto their club coach.
For club coaches, and parents, this is also an opportunity to participate as well. Learn more about the game, and how you can advance your own coaching. Each session is planned in advance and circulated to coaches before the session.
The coaching structure is;
- Head Coach
- Assistant Coach(s)
- Volunteer Coach(s) ideally two
This gives us 1 one to 3 ratio of the participants. Sessions are 90 minutes in length and participants are expected to arrive in appropriate training gear ready to start on time.
