The CJCA organised South Island Girls Invitational Tournament held at the Burnside West University Cricket Club was won by the Dunedin Cricket Associations team.

Eight teams entered the event making it one of the largest Girls tournaments in New Zealand.

After defeating the CJCA Red team earlier in the Tournament the local side had to refocus to make the final which it did by defeating Canterbury County in the fourth round.

In the Final Dunedin batted exceptionally well and posted 123 for just 1 wicket in their 20 overs.

The Dunedin team didn’t let up the pressure on Christchurch and eventually the home side managed 90 when the 20th over was completed.

The CJCA congratulate the Dunedin team for not only their win but the great team attitude they bought to the event they certainly contributed greatly to the atmosphere of the event and we can’t wait to see them and the other teams next year.

Teams entered from -CJCA (two teams), Canterbury Country, Otago Districts, Otago Country, Dunedin, Nelson and Cornwall from Auckland.
