CJCA Wicket Keeping Clinics

The CJCA is pleased to announce the first what is planned to be a number of new Specialist Clinics as part of its Player Development Programme.  It is hoped in the future that other Clinics in areas such as Spin Bowling can be arranged.

Please note the Year 7/8 clinic is now full and the Year 5/6 is almost full.

To gain one of the last 3 Year 5/6 spots please email the CJCA [email protected].

The first of these Clinics is a WICKET KEEPING CLINIC.

These clinics will be held on Sunday the 28th of October and Sunday the 25th of November indoors at the Action Indoor Sports Centre on Iversen Terrace.  The Clinic consists of 2 hours on each of these days for each year grouping.

“Wicket Keepers are the most important fielder in a cricket team.  They dismiss more batsmen by catching, stumping and running them out then any other player.  However, at team trainings wicket keepers’ development is often gets over looked.  For this reason we need to build wicket keepers self-sufficiency and arm them with a tool-box of great drills and games for them to use during the season during their team trainings.

During these wicket keeping development sessions, players will be exposed to drills and games designed to grow glove work, body position, and foot movement.  Other skills such as the role of a keeper and developing game sense, will be touched on.

Sign up to learn these vital skills from quality wicket keeping coaches!”

They have been planned to be before and after the CJCA Spring Tournaments so players can gain and then apply knowledge and then use the session following the Tournaments to bring back aspects of their Tournament experience for further development.

The cost of an enrolment is $40.  Spaces are limited to the first 24 to register for each group.

Year 5 & 6 keepers will training from 10am until 12 noon with the older Year 7 & 8 group training from 12.30pm until 2.30pm.

Payment should be made to the CJCA Bank Account 06 0665 0202125 00 with – Keeping / Year  Group 5/6 or 7/8 & SURNAME as reference.
