Cancellation Policy:

CJCA Grades will be played and wherever practical. This may mean that some grades are played while others are not. Cancellations will always occur on either an "All Grades Cancelled basis" (where the weather on the day of play does not permit cricket from being played) or a "Grade by Grade cancellation basis". Grades are predominantly played on one of three surfaces.

  • Prepared grass pitches (Senior Premier and Senior One Day girls and boys). Prepared grass pitches require preparation at least on the day before the match. Where such preparation is not possible due to weather conditions or where the weather conditions on the day of play would likely result in significant damage to the pitch, these grades will be cancelled.
      • Note that Senior Premier grade has a later start time of 1030 am and this could delay a decision in marginal conditions.
  • Artificial pitch grades (Junior One Day and Junior Super 8s girls and boys). These grades do not require particular preparation prior to the day of play and damage to outfields will be minimal. As such these grades will be played unless the weather conditions on the day would result in a very unpleasant morning's play.
  • Outfield pitch grades (Junior 20/20 and Milo Kiwi) These grades play on mown but normally not rolled grass strips. Their preparation on the day prior to play is not a pre-requisite for play so normally, these grades will be played unless the weather conditions on the day would result in a very unpleasant morning's play.

Cancellations will be notified via this page and via Text Message (per above information.) While we will also notify Radio NZ (NewsTalk ZB 1098am) of cancellations, our experience is that we cannot guarantee the accuracy or the timing of such messages. People should therefore rely on this page or the text messaging service.
