Heaton Girls straight to CCA Final

Cobham fight to the wire

Thursday, 6 April 2017

Defending New Zealand champions Heaton Intermediate have taken the first step towards defending their title with a close win over Cobham Intermediate in the CJCA Qualifying tournament held recently on Hagley Corner in Christchurch.

Cobham won the toss and batted and after losing a wicket batted solidly with Moly Stagg anchoring the innings and Taylah Holdem adding some aggression to post 102 in their 20 overs.  Heaton lost regular wickets chasing but kept ahead of the run rate mot of the time with Taylah Holdem again having an impact on the game snaring some late wickets to create some nervous times for the Heaton supporters.  Eventually Heaton got to the target with 2 wickets and 1 over to spare.

They now directly to the Canterbury final with Cobham having a second life prior to the Canterbury tournament in term 4.  Many thanks to Match Official Co-ordinator Eugen Sanders and Rosie Pentecost from Villa Maria for umpiring the game - the girls really appreciated the level of officiating provided for the game.
