Westport 2008 - 7th Jan to 11th Jan 2008

Rain washed out the first day and play didn't clear for play to start on the second day until 2.30pm. This meant that time didn't enable a result that might otherwise have occured in some matches. Fine weather occured thereafter with the temperature on the Thursday reaching 30 degrees. Going into the last day, Christchurch Black was leading by just a point from Canterbury Country and Southland Country. Day 5 hot and dry. A nail biting finish which literally went down to the last ball of the tournament. Christchurch Black needed three wickets in the last over of the match against Mid-Canterbury to win the match and the tournament outright. They got two wickets but the batsman held out the last ball. Big closing ceremony and everyone very complimentary.
 
Overall Canterbury Country and Christchurch Black were joint winners of the Sir Jack Newman Trophy and South Canterbury won the Eastern Southland Trophy.
