Points Tables & Grade Winners (2011/12)

Points tables can be found for all the hard ball grades within the draws / results system. Refer here.

From the 2010/11 season there will be NO points awarded for the SOFT BALL grades - thats Year 5 Super 8's and younger grades. We were finding that too much emphasis was being placed on the points which may have an impact on our PRIMARY concern of giving all players an equal oppourtunity. Also a high proportion of the problems that needed to be solved were around incorrect results being entered or points not being awarded correctly. We will see how this change goes for this season.

For those grades where points are still awarded there will be issues with the results system that are caused by our flexibility to allow teams to switch grades during the season. Some teams move into a new grade during the season - or at the start of the calender year, so that they will have a competitive match. When this occurs, these teams will not have their prior points carried over into their new grade. Points earned in the season to date by a team staying in that grade will not have their points restarted becuase new teams have joined.

To understand the relative merits of teams now within a single grade, people may choose to view the weekly results from the time their team entered into the grade to establish for themselves, where they "sit" relative to other teams during the same period.

Points accumulated and published during the season in a particular grade are therefore an indication of points earned by each team while in that grade only.

Grade Winners (2011/12 onwards)

We will start to keep a record of the various HARD BALL Section 1 grade winners at the end of December and March of each season. These will appear here and will be based on the points awarded for the games played in these periods. Therefore results MUST be submitted. The traditional Shields that have been available for these grades will continue on the old basis and are NOT dependant on which team is top of the table.
