Grade Objective

This transitional grade provides a stepping stone from Super 8 to Senior 1 Day, giving an introduction to traditional cricket against teams of similar experience, size and ability. Typically most girls will be aged school Year 5 to 7 (age 9 to 11) and will only play this grade for one season. Girls that started Super 8 at a young age may however choose a second year at Junior 1 Day before moving into Senior 1 Day.

For most girls this grade will be their first experience of playing traditional cricket with a leather ball, helmet and pads and most girls will thrive on the opportunity. The girls develop their technique, enjoyment and understanding of the game, participating equally in all facets of the game including batting, bowling, keeping and fielding. The grade focuses on fun and team spirit.

Dispensation for older girls is available at the Grade Manager’s discretion (See footnote). Note that the decision to hold this grade is dependant on sufficient team numbers, coaches should discuss their intentions with Grade Manager prior to the season start.
